One of the CDPHP 2013 “charities of choice,” Capital Region Sponsor-a-Scholar provides mentors, guidance, and academic and financial support for at-risk, inner-city high school students to help them graduate and pursue higher education. This event is a celebration of the achievements of the program’s graduates.

Andrew Solomon, author of the recent book Far From the Tree: Parents, Children, and the Search for Identity, will be the featured guest. The event will include a silent auction offering a select group of unique items for bid. A party follows the formal program.
The festivities will include a VIP cocktail reception, refreshments and beverages prepared by Mazzone Hospitality, and pre-concert entertainment by the Park Playhouse student performers. The organization's "Shining Star Award" will be presented to long-time supporter of the theatre (and Capital Region arts at large) Alan P. Goldberg. The concert will feature popular tunes from the first 24 years of the theatre's offerings. Multimedia projections, including pictures and video footage, will accompany the performances.
