2005

In October 2005, three CDPHP plans were ranked among the nation’s top health plans in a collaborative report entitled U.S. News & World Report/NCQA America’s Best Health Plans 2005®. CDPHP’s HMO was rated 15th in the country for commercial health plans, while its Medicaid program, SelectPlan, and its Medicare Advantage program, Medicare Choice, placed 7th and 21st, respectively, in the nation. Scoring was based on several factors including clinical quality, member satisfaction, and NCQA accreditation scores.

The September 2005 issue of a national consumer publication rated the CDPHP HMO number two in the nation by its members for overall satisfaction. This same publication has recognized CDPHP highly twice before, underscoring its commitment to continuous improvement and outstanding health care services. The overall rating was derived from the following factors: access to doctors and care; choice of doctors; customer service; billing; care from doctors; and primary care doctor.

In September 2005, Weiss Ratings, Inc rated CDPHP an “A-” (Excellent), increased from a consistent “B+” (Good) since 2001. The ranking places CDPHP in the top 14.9 percent of the health insurance industry, amongst a premier group of 77 health insurance companies. The findings are based on the evaluation of CDPHP’s capitalization, investment safety, profitability, liquidity, and stability.

For the seventh consecutive year, members of AvidCare™, the Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan, Inc. HMO, rated it the best plan in New York state, according to an annual report card by the New York State Health Accountability Foundation (NYSHAF). According to the report, 80 percent of the Plan’s membership rated the plan an eight, nine, or 10 on a point scale of one to 10. Of the 19 HMOs included in the comprehensive, statewide report, CDPHP ranked four percent higher than the next closest plan, and is the only one to score in the 80th percentile for overall rating.

2004

In September 2004, the CDPHP HMO, AvidCare™, was rated one of the top 10 accredited health plans in the country for overall member satisfaction in The State of Health Care Quality report, by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). CDPHP’s HMO was the only Capital Region plan to receive this honor.

In June 2004, for the sixth consecutive year, the CDPHP HMO was ranked first by members in a report card issued by the New York State Health Accountability Foundation (NYSHAF). According to the report, 83 percent of CDPHP's membership rated the plan an 8, 9, or 10 on a scale of 1 to 10.
