Awards and Recognition

2007

In November, CDPHP earned CORA (Critical Outcomes Report Analysis) certification for disease management (DM) and wellness by the Disease Management Purchasing Consortium International, Inc. (DMPC). CDPHP holds both corporate and individual certification, which ensures accurate disease management and wellness reporting to employers from health plans and vendors.

In October, the CDPHP Medicaid plan, Select Plan, was rated 4th in the country and highest in New York state, while the commercial HMO and Medicare Choice plans were rated among the top 25 in the nation in a collaborative report entitled U.S. News & World Report/NCQA “America’s Best Health Plans 2007®.”

In September, an annual report card released by the New York State Health Accountability Foundation (NYSHAF) reaffirmed the CDPHP HMO as the top-rated health plan in New York State. In addition, members rated CDPHP highest in New York for customer service.

For the second consecutive year, Health Industries Research Companies (HIRC) recognized CDPHP as offering the best disease management program in upstate New York. CDPHP was the only health plan in the Capital Region to receive this award, with no other health plans north of New York City or east of Buffalo recognized. Less than six percent of the U.S. health plans profiled in this report are honored consecutively.

2006

In October, the CDPHP commercial health plan was rated fifth in the country, and top rated in New York state, in a collaborative report entitled U.S. News & World Report/NCQA “America’s Best Health Plans 2006®.” The CDPHP Medicare Advantage program, Medicare Choice, and the Medicaid program, Select Plan, placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the nation. Scoring was based on several factors including clinical quality, member satisfaction, and NCQA accreditation scores.

Also, in October 2006, A.M. Best Co. recognized Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan, Inc. (CDPHP) and its experience-rated affiliate, CDPHP Universal Benefits Inc. (UBI), with a B++ and B+ financial rating, respectively. These ratings place CDPHP and CDPHP UBI at the top of A.M. Best’s “very good” category.

In July, Health Industries Research Companies (HIRC), a national, independent research organization serving the health care industry, recognized CDPHP as offering the best disease management program in upstate New York. CDPHP, frequently lauded both regionally and nationally for its disease management programs, was the only health plan in the Capital Region to receive this honor.

Also in July 2006, CDPHP HMO members in Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Hamilton, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Otsego, Tioga counties, as well as Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster counties, reported the highest member satisfaction rates with their health care coverage, according to the New York State Health Accountability Foundation (NYSHAF). According to NYSHAF’s report, nearly 76 percent of HMO membership rated CDPHP an eight, nine, or 10 on a point scale of one to 10. In addition, HMO members at CDPHP reported the least number of problems in receiving care, and ranked the Plan number one for the greatest ability to get needed care. NYSHAF’s report also found that CDPHP performed at, or better than state levels in 22 of the 26 quality measurements.

Additionally in July 2006, the Albany Business Review rated CDPHP the second fastest growing company in the Capital Region. This is up from a fifth place ranking in 2005. Findings were based on growth in annual revenue, employee base, locations, and product offerings, and CDPHP was ranked with other local organizations within the $100 million plus revenue range.

In June, CDPHP received Excellent Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its commercial HMO, POS, Medicaid, and Medicare Choice products. Excellent Accreditation is NCQA’s highest accreditation status available to health plans. This is the fourth time that CDPHP has been awarded NCQA’s highest level of accreditation for its commercial HMO, the third time for its Medicaid product, Select Plan, and the second recognition for its Medicare Choice product.
