A founding member in the field of pediatric cardiology in this region, Dr. Eric W. Spooner was instrumental in bringing the tools of modern pediatric cardiology, including echocardiography, color flow imaging, and fetal echocardiography for congenital heart disease, to this area. Eric has been a pioneer in these imaging modalities, enabling the diagnosis of complex congenital heart disease, and has championed state-of-the-art congenital heart surgery methods in Albany.
Eric currently serves as chief of pediatric cardiology for Capital District Pediatric Cardiology Associates, PC. In this leadership role, he has demonstrated the importance of collaboration, developing strong and effective relationships with other physicians, hospitals, and health plans.
Affiliated with many industry organizations, he has lectured extensively throughout his career, and is an accomplished author in his field.
Eric graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a Bachelor of Science degree and earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, after which he completed internship and residency programs at the University of Michigan Affiliated Hospitals in Ann Arbor. He is a fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Cardiology and is board certified in pediatric cardiology.
