Vanessa Toney Bobb MD, PhD, joined CDPHP in July 2019 and serves as the vice president of behavioral health and medical integration. In this role, Dr. Bobb provides physician leadership to the administration of plan benefits to ensure that mental and physical health needs of CDPHP pediatric and adult membership are met. Dr. Bobb chairs the behavioral health and HARP utilization management committees, the behavioral health and HARP health quality stakeholder committees, and co-chairs the children’s advisory committee. Dr. Bobb also directs the Medicaid managed care children’s system implementation.
Dr. Bobb has vast clinical experience within the Columbia and Cornell University Hospital systems, the New York State Office of Mental Health, the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), child welfare organizations, and with primary care-focused community health centers. Dr. Bobb has treated and provided consultation for youth and adults with complex psychiatric and medical comorbidities. Dr. Bobb has presented at local, national, and international conferences, and developed workshops on topics related to mental health and culture, self-esteem in minority youth, early onset schizophrenia, cognitive behavioral therapy, HIV prevention, and health plan behavioral health initiatives and interventions.
Board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry and adult psychiatry, Dr. Bobb completed child, adolescent, and adult residency training at New York Presbyterian Hospital and completed a public psychiatry fellowship at Columbia University. She received an MD/PhD from Brown University and is an AHIP Executive Leadership Fellow Program scholar from the Kellogg School of Management. In addition, Dr. Bobb served as clinical faculty to the child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and guest lectured at Columbia University public psychiatry fellowship program, New York Presbyterian child and adolescent psychiatry program, and the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
Dr. Bobb served as a peer reviewer for the National Institutes of Health Child Health and Human Development, Scientific Review Branch, was awarded honors of distinction for psychiatric excellence by the Consumer Research Council of America, and is a past executive committee member of New York Public Psychiatry. Additionally, Dr. Bobb is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Behavioral Health Co-Leader of the Alliance of Community Health Plans, and serves on the board of directors of the YWCA-NorthEastern New York.
