Mike Courtney

Senior Vice President,
Physician Engagement

Mike Courtney joined CDPHP in 2012 and currently serves as senior vice president of physician engagement. In this role, he oversees the development and execution of the value-based programs at CDPHP, including Enhanced Primary Care (EPC), a patient-centered medical home (PCMH) model that has revolutionized the field of primary care medicine in New York’s Capital Region. The EPC program, which includes more than 200 primary care practices, 1,000 clinicians, and more than 90% of CDPHP primary care imputed lives, moves physicians away from fee-for-service and into value-based payment arrangements.

Mike has more than two decades of experience in health care. He began his career at Fortune 500 companies Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson, where he developed a deep connection and appreciation for the providers he worked with, a skill he has since translated into the health insurance space. Upon joining CDPHP, Mike developed a practice transformation division that assists primary care and specialty practices in transforming their individual sites into highly integrated, team-based models. He and his team work alongside the plan’s physician network, identifying ways for providers to improve both the quality and efficiency of care they provide.

Since graduating from Siena College, Mike has remained committed to helping change the landscape of health care delivery in the Capital Region.
