Prescription Medication Coverage and Your Funding Account
Prescription drugs are considered qualified medical expenses. With high deductible plans, all covered prescriptions will apply toward the medical deductible except for preventive drugs, which will be subject to formulary and tier status.
HRA Reimbursement for Prescription Drugs
Your prescription drug costs may be reimbursable by your HRA; it depends on which eligible expenses your employer has selected. If your HRA does cover prescription drugs, please keep in mind that because preventive drugs do not apply toward the deductible with high deductible plans, using your debit card for these purchases will reduce your HRA, but not your medical deductible.
If your employer has selected an HRA deductible, any money paid out of pocket for prescriptions does not automatically apply to your HRA deductible. You must complete an HRA claim form and submit along with your prescription receipts. This can be completed online through the secure site or by downloading the paper claim form and mailing to the address or fax number listed.
FSA Reimbursement for Prescription Drugs
Your prescription drug costs may be reimbursable by your health FSA. These FSA dollars can be used to pay prescription costs that occur both before and after the deductible has been met.
