Rx for Less Program Changes

Starting in 2023, The Rx for Less program is nearly doubling in size with the addition of six new chain pharmacies, plus multiple independent pharmacies. The Rx for Less pharmacies are:

ConnectRx, Hannaford, Market 32/Price Chopper, ShopRite, and Walmart. Starting January 1, 2023: Walgreens, Rite Aid, Food Lion, Kinney Drugs, Stop & Shop, Giant Foods, and multiple independent pharmacies.

PLEASE NOTE: CVS has opted to be removed from the Rx for Less program. Members (in all plans except Medicaid) are still able to fill prescriptions at CVS pharmacies after December 31, 2022, but the Rx for Less discount will no longer apply. If you are currently filling an Rx for Less medication at CVS and would like to continue receiving a discount on prescriptions through the Rx for Less program, you can transfer applicable prescriptions to a different Rx for Less retail pharmacy.

Next Steps: To transfer your prescription(s), use one of the options below:

Option 1: This is the easiest option! Download the CDPHP ConnectRx, On the Go smartphone app from your app store and have your ID card handy.

  • Once you’ve downloaded the app and created an account, tap on “Pharmacies” at the bottom of the screen to search for nearby Rx for Less pharmacies.

  • Tap the pharmacy that you would like to switch your prescriptions to.

  • Tap “switch to this pharmacy.”

  • Select the medications you need to change and tap “send request.”

Option 2: Call the participating Rx for Less pharmacy you would like to switch to and let them know you are transferring your prescription(s) there. You can also bring your prescription bottles to a participating pharmacy and ask for your prescription(s) to be transferred.

Option 3: Call your prescribing provider and give them the name, address, and phone number of the new Rx for Less pharmacy for which you are transferring your prescription(s).

Additional details:

  • If you continue to fill prescriptions at CVS pharmacies, not only will you likely pay more, but you’ll also only be able to receive a 30-day supply of your medication (except for Medicare Advantage members who can continue to review a 90-day supply at CVS). When you have a prescription on the Rx for Less list and with a participating pharmacy, you can receive a 90-day supply.

  • You can switch to a participating Rx for Less pharmacy before January 1, 2023 to ensure you receive the same discount you were receiving before.

  • If you choose to switch to an Rx for Less pharmacy before January 1, 2023, new pharmacies that have been added to the program will not provide the discount until January 1, 2023.

  • Prescriptions that are expired, have zero refills remaining, or are for controlled substances are not eligible for transfer.

Rx for Less is available for commercial plans with prescription benefits (including self-funded plans) and Medicare advantage. Change goes into effect January 1, 2023.
