ALBANY, N.Y. – December 9, 2016 – CDPHP president and CEO, Dr. John Bennett, has been awarded the 2016 Promoting the Advancement of Technology in Healthcare (PATH) Award from the New York e-Health Collaborative (NYeC). Now in its sixth year, the award recognizes individuals who advocate and promote innovation in the field of health information technology (HIT).
Since joining CDPHP in 2008, Dr. Bennett has been a strong proponent for the advancement of health information technology. He was instrumental in the creation of the CDPHP Enhanced Primary Care initiative, a patient-centered medical home model that provides financial support to primary care doctors as they acquire electronic medical records and implement online patient portals.
“The opportunities we have to improve the quality and efficiency of health care through health information technology are endless. CDPHP is deeply committed to making this possible, but we cannot do it alone. I am deeply honored to receive this award and plan to continue fighting for the advancement of HIT throughout the Capital Region and beyond,” said Dr. Bennett.
Since 2005, CDPHP has invested more than $5 million in electronic medical record (EMR) adoption, interoperability, and education within its physician network. CDPHP continues to serve as an active member of the Health Information Exchange of New York (Hixny), with Dr. Bennett serving as board chair. He also serves on the board of directors for NYeC.
