By expanding to include a $0 premium plan, we’re ensuring Medicare members can find a plan that fits their unique needs.”

CDPHP $0 Medicare Rx joins a strong portfolio of plans for Medicare-eligible individuals that includes Basic Rx, Value Rx, and Choice/Choice Rx plans. Each plan has no medical deductible, a range of programs and services to keeps members healthy, and provides free access to gyms and wellness programs through CDPHP Senior Fit.

Open enrollment for Medicare runs from October 15 to December 7, 2017. The $0 premium plan is one of several highlights CDPHP announced for its Medicare plans in 2018.

CDPHP scores high marks for quality and service
CDPHP has once again received high ratings from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), with its HMO and PPO plans earning a 4.5 out of 5 rating. The NCQA ratings give consumers the ability to compare health insurance companies and make an informed choice when it comes to choosing a health plan.

CDPHP Medicare plans have also scored top ratings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The CDPHP Medicare PPO plan received an overall Star Rating of 5 out of 5 stars, while the Medicare HMO* plan received a Star Rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Each year, CMS rates Medicare plans on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, with 5 stars representing the highest quality. The rating system is an important feature of the Medicare Advantage program, as it encourages health insurers to strive for higher quality, resulting in better care for members.

“Our commitment to quality is reflected in these ratings,” Bennett said. “We offer high-quality products and services to members for one reason – to help them live long, healthy lives. We’re pleased that NCQA and CMS recognize this commitment.”

Better care at a lower cost; enhanced value-added benefits
Many CDPHP Medicare members who visit an Enhanced Primary Care practice will receive higher quality care AND a reduced copay in 2018.

Launched in 2007, the Enhanced Primary Care program fosters patient-centered care by compensating doctors for the quality of care they provide rather than the number of services rendered. As a result, patients are receiving more time with their doctor, improved coordination of care, and better health outcomes.

Beginning in 2018, Medicare members on the Basic Rx, Value Rx, and Choice/Choice Rx plans will receive a copay reduction of $5 or $10 when visiting an Enhanced Primary Care practice – meaning some members will have no copay at all.

Additionally, CDPHP Medicare Choices members will receive higher allowances and simplified dental, hearing, and vision benefits in 2018.

CDPHP Medicare Choices members can also receive deep discounts on specified generic drugs from participating pharmacies. Through the Rx for Less program, generic drugs are available for as little as a penny a pill.

NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations and recognizes clinicians in key clinical areas. NCQA’s HEDIS® is the most widely used performance measurement tool in health care. NCQA’s web site (www.ncqa.org) contains information to help consumers, employers, and others make more informed health care choices.

*The HMO plan is offered to individuals and employer groups; while the PPO plan is offered through employer groups. Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system. Star Ratings are calculated each year and may change from one year to the next.
