CDPHP Partners with Brook Health to Provide Free Community Resource to Combat COVID-19 Crisis

ALBANY, N.Y. – April 28, 2020 – CDPHP is expanding access to a virtual tool to help the community combat coronavirus (COVID-19). The Brook Personal Health Companion – a smartphone app originally designed to help CDPHP members manage diabetes – is now being offered to members and non-members alike for free support throughout the duration of the COVID-19 crisis.

CDPHP is partnering with Brook to provide support in the following areas:

  • Maintaining a healthy immune system

  • Staying active around the house

  • Healthy meal ideas and pantry staples

  • Sleep and stress support

  • Managing blood pressure and blood sugar levels

“Our number one priority is preventing the spread of this disease,” said CDPHP president and CEO, Dr. John D. Bennett. “By offering this free resource to the entire community, we are hopeful we can not only bend the curve but help those in need,” added Bennett.

“Living healthy is a continuous challenge that has now become even harder. Many people are working from home, their kids are out of school, gyms are closed, and we are all looking for remote, relevant, and reliable guidance while managing the added stress,” said Brook Health CEO, Oren Nissim. “Our highly personalized 24-7 health companion service is here to support members, and has now been extended to provide information on how to keep healthy and react to COVID-19.” added Nissim.

To get started, simply search “Brook Health” in the App Store or Google Play, then follow the instructions for setting up an account. Brook’s “COVID-19 Support” channel is available 24/7 to help you stay healthy during the pandemic. To speak to a live expert, head to the “Care Circle” tab and select “Brook Expert.” For technical support, email support@brook.health or call 1-800-266-4407.

In addition to the expansion of Brook, CDPHP has also waived cost-share for all COVID-19 testing and treatment; has expanded new, no-cost access to telemedicine services through ER Anywhere and Doctor on Demand; and has removed prior authorization for all medical and behavioral health care services.

Additionally, the CDPHP Care Team – comprised of nurses, case managers, pharmacists, and more is supporting CDPHP members struggling with social isolation, food insecurity, transportation and more. If you or a loved one needs assistance, please contact 1-800-365-4180.
