ALBANY, N.Y. – June 8, 2020 – CDPHP and the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC) are announcing the cancellation of the 2020 CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge due to the coronavirus pandemic. The race, which was originally scheduled for May 21, had been postponed to September 17.
“CDPHP, together with HMRRC, has made the difficult yet necessary decision to cancel the 2020 CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge,” said John D. Bennett, MD, president and CEO of CDPHP. “The health and wellbeing of our community is just too important to risk during this time.”
“HMRRC is disappointed to cancel this race for the first time in 40 years, but protecting the health of our participants, volunteers, and local community is and always will be our top priority,” said Mark Warner, race director for the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge.
Over the last 12 months, CDPHP and its physician partners have worked diligently to design the medical facility with a focus on patient-centered care. The complex – combined with Community Care Physicians and Ortho NY nearby – will make Route 9 a hub for medical innovation.
All registrations previously received have been refunded. The race’s three Charities of Choice – The RED Bookshelf, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region, and IPH – will be retained for 2021. Please note, the excellent work being done by these charities goes on during this difficult time. Donations and volunteer opportunities can be found on their respective websites to offer assistance in advance of next year’s race, and would be greatly appreciated.
