More Than $33,000 for Rotterdam Community Center

ALBANY, N.Y. June 1, 2023 – CDPHP and the Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC) are pleased to announce that the 2023 CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge raised more than $33,000 for local not-for-profit Rotterdam Community Center, located in Rotterdam, NY.

“On behalf of CDPHP, I want to thank our partners at HMRRC, race sponsors, and our nearly 8,000 CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge participants for this incredible show of generosity,” said Brian O’Grady, CDPHP President of Health Plan Markets. “To raise more than $33,000 for Rotterdam Community Center is truly remarkable and a testament to the support we have for this community we call home.”

With the donated funds from this year’s race, the Rotterdam Community Center’s Bread of Life food pantry has already expanded its hours and will soon operate weekly in-person sessions to address food insecurity in the Rotterdam community, in addition to making weekly home deliveries to those in need.

“Since we first opened our doors last June, the Rotterdam Community Center has welcomed more than 10,000 guests and served more than 54,000 meals supported by more than 5,000 volunteer hours,” said Reverend Dustin Longmire, executive director, Rotterdam Community Center. “Our food security, mental health and wellness, and arts and culture programs have already been utilized by so many of our neighbors, and with the generous support of the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge and the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club, all these programs will be able to continue and grow well into the future,” he added.

The CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge is organized by and serves as an important fundraiser for HMRRC. In addition to raising funds for local charities, the race also helps to fund HMRRC’s college scholarships, grants, and free running programs.

“This year’s CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge featured a large, competitive field on a perfect May evening. To top it off, HMRRC is thrilled to see the Rotterdam Community Center benefit from the generosity of the running community,” said Todd Mesick, co-race director, HMRRC.
