Healthier Generation Benefit

Addressing the Obesity Epidemic in Young People

CDPHP® is proud to collaborate with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthier Generation Benefit to address the obesity epidemic in young people. This effort brings leading insurers, national medical associations and employers to offer comprehensive health benefits to children and families for the prevention, assessment, and treatment of childhood obesity.

The Alliance for a Healthier Generation is a non-profit organization founded by the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation that launched the Healthier Generation Benefit in 2009 nationwide.

How You Can Help

CDPHP physicians are urged to identify children who may benefit from this effort. CDPHP covers exercise and nutritional counseling visits with primary care providers and registered dietitians for eligible members aged 3 to 18 years with a body mass index (BMI) ≥ 85th percentile. These services are subject to applicable deductibles, copayments, coinsurances, and/or group-specific contract limitations, if any. Please see the below documents and links for a variety of tools and guidelines to use in implementing this initiative with your CDPHP members.
