CDPHP is dedicated to providing comprehensive, easy-to-use health coverage to Skidmore College students. The college requires all full-time students to maintain health insurance coverage for inpatient care, outpatient services, prescription medicine, mental health, as well as catastrophic illness and injury. Students may satisfy these insurance requirements through private or employer sponsored plans that meet certain minimum criteria.

Do I need to get a referral from Health Services before using my insurance plan?
No, a referral from Health Services is no longer necessary prior to obtaining services. There is no longer a deductible when you stay in the CDPHP network.
What if I choose to see a provider that does not participate in CDPHP’s network?
A $200 deductible per policy ($400 per family) applies to services received from a non-network provider. You will also be responsible for a higher coinsurance level.
What is a deductible?
A deductible is the amount for which you are responsible before payment is made by the insurance company. Once you have paid the deductible, whether it’s applied to one service or multiple services, the plan will pay for covered medical expenses as indicated in the plan summary.
What is coinsurance?
Coinsurance is a percentage that you are responsible for on certain health services.
Can I still get my oral contraceptives at Skidmore College Health Services at no charge?
No. Beginning with the policy year, there will be a charge for purchasing your oral contraceptive prescriptions through Skidmore College Health Services.
If you already purchase your oral contraceptives at Health Services you may continue to do so but will be charged accordingly or our providers can write a prescription that can be filled at no charge through one of the many participating pharmacies in the CDPHP network.
