Cornival Chefs’ Challenge Raises $10,000 for Hope 7

ALBANY, N.Y. – August 9, 2017 – The fourth annual Cornival chefs’ challenge, presented by CDPHP and SEFCU, raised a grand total of $10,000 for Hope 7. Hope 7 serves families with meal packages that include meat, fresh produce, milk, and more. They also provide diapers, personal care items, and household cleaning supplies.

Hundreds of people sampled a mix of sweet and savory corn-themed dishes from 11 local chefs and restaurants, and then had the chance to vote for their favorite.

New participant, Swifty’s Restaurant, took top honors with its creamed corn spoonbread, maple pork, and crispy fennel. In second place was returning favorite Old Daley Custom Catering. The Top Popper award, as chosen by local restaurateur Maria Decker, went to Normanside.

  • Yono’s/dp Brasserie

Hope 7 Food Pantry plans to use the funds donated to purchase new shelving and a walk-in freezer to keep produce fresh.
