Albany, N.Y. – May 21, 2026 – Downtown Albany was energized Thursday evening as nearly 8,000 runners and walkers descended on the city for the 2026 CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge, representing more than 400 local businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations. The annual event once again showcased the power of connection and wellness across New York’s Capital Region.
Participants of all abilities took part in the 3.5-mile course, creating a sea of company colors and team spirit. The race continues to offer a fun and meaningful opportunity for colleagues to come together beyond the workplace.
This Year’s Top Finishers
Killian McNamee surged to victory, capturing first place in the men’s division with an impressive time of 17:07. On the women’s side, Kerry Flower set the pace and dominated the field, crossing the finish line in a strong 19:23 to claim the top spot. The full list of results can be found HERE.
A Powerful Return to Connection in a Post-COVID World
Beyond the competition, the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge plays an essential role in strengthening relationships among coworkers and building a healthier, more connected community. In a post-COVID world where hybrid and remote work have become more common, events like this are more important than ever.
“Over the past several years, the way we work has transformed dramatically,” said Nick Kraft, Chief Customer and Engagement Officer at CDPHP. “The CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge provides a powerful opportunity for colleagues to reconnect face-to-face, build camaraderie, and promote physical and mental well-being. It’s a celebration of teamwork; not just in business, but across our entire community.”
Thank You to Our Exceptional Partners
The success of the event would not be possible without the collective efforts of key partners and volunteers. Special recognition goes to the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC) and ARE Event Productions for expertly organizing the race year after year, as well as the City of Albany, Albany Police Department, New York State Police, and the New York State Office of General Services for their coordination and commitment to ensuring a safe and successful event for all participants.
Giving Back to the 518
As always, the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge is about more than just crossing the finish line – it’s about giving back. Proceeds from this year’s race will benefit Crossroads Center for Children and Catholic Charities, two organizations dedicated to supporting vulnerable individuals and families in the Capital Region. In addition to raising funds for local charities, the race also helps to fund HMRRC’s youth running programs, college scholarships, grants, and free running programs.
The total amount raised, including a significant contribution from the United Way of the Greater Capital Region from the 518 Day cross-collaboration efforts this year, will be announced at a press event at the CDPHP headquarters at Wellness Way on June 15.
