Rx Delivery from ConnectRx

Prescription Delivery by Mail

If you have prescription drug coverage through CDPHP, many medications taken on a regular basis can be mailed directly to your home with no charge for standard delivery!

Through December 31, 2022, CVS Caremark will manage the CDPHP prescription mail order program. Current users can log in to Caremark to view their mail order prescriptions.

Starting January 1, 2023, Walmart Home Delivery will be the new CDPHP mail order pharmacy. If you currently use the CVS Caremark mail order service for medications, you will need to create an account with Walmart Home Delivery before any prescriptions can be filled with this new vendor.

You can still use CVS retail locations to fill prescriptions but will not be able have prescriptions delivered through CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy. Walmart Home Delivery is a prescription mail order company, so you will not need to visit a retail Walmart location when using this service.

What medications can be delivered

  • Most maintenance medications are available for delivery, including those taken regularly for chronic or long-term conditions, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, or diabetes.

  • Certain diabetic supplies may also be available through mail order.

  • When you use the mail order service, you’ll receive your prescription(s) in 90-day supplies, so this service can only be used for medications you take regularly.

  • For short-term medications, such as an antibiotic, use a retail pharmacy in your plan’s network, such as ConnectRx.

  • To learn more about which medications can be filled through this service, call the pharmacy phone number on the back of your CDPHP member ID card.

Getting started with Walmart Home Delivery

On or after January 3, 2023, call the pharmacy number on the back of your member ID card to:

  • Set up your account

  • Provide your payment information

  • Have current mail order prescription refills transferred from Caremark to Walmart (if applicable). NOTE: This only applies to unexpired refills for non-controlled substances.

Walmart will work with you to ensure all your mail order eligible medications get filled. This may require a phone call to your physician for new prescriptions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much do drugs cost if I use mail order?
A: Your cost depends on the tier status of the prescribed medication, your specific health plan, and benefit information. Keep in mind that using generic medications will save you money, so be sure to discuss this option with your physician.

Q: What if my prescription changes?
A: Any time your prescription changes (drug, strength, directions, etc.), you should obtain a new 90-day prescription from your physician to send to Walmart Home Delivery.

Q: Is there an online option to setup my prescription mail order profile and for completing refill requests?
A: If you want prescriptions mailed to your home, you will have to follow the process stated above to setup a new profile account by phone. Online or app options are only available through Walmart retail prescription pickup. If you’ve purchased prescriptions through the Walmart online service in the past, you can continue to use online account services only for retail prescription pickup at your local pharmacy.

Q: How long does it take to receive a new prescription?
A: If your health care provider does not call your prescription in to Walmart directly, Walmart will verify orders for new prescriptions before they fill them.

  • Prescriptions are then usually sent U.S. First Class Mail and arrive within 7-10 business days, but some medications are delivered more quickly.

  • For medications that do not require special handling, you can request expedited ship¬ping for an additional fee.

Q: Will I receive automated calls from Walmart if I enroll to have my prescriptions delivered by mail?
A: You may receive up to 3 automated status calls within 24 hours from Walmart for an order received, balance due, and order shipped, or 3 automated status calls for refill reminders, balance due, and order shipped. If your prescriptions are set up in separate orders, you will receive similar additional related calls. To receive automated status calls, you must opt in when setting up your profile. Currently, Walmart may or may not display on caller ID when automated calls are received.

Q: How long does it take to receive a new prescription?
A: If your health care provider does not call/e-prescribe your prescription in to Walmart Home Delivery directly, they will verify orders for new prescriptions before they fill them. Prescriptions are usually sent U.S. First ClassMail and arrive within 7-10 business days, but some medications are delivered more quickly. For medications that do not require special handling, you can request expedited shipping for an additional fee.

You can expect to receive your order within 3-10 business days once the prescription is verified.

  • Controlled substances: Walmart ships all controlled substances express 2nd day with an adult (18 years or older) signature required. There is no additional cost for expedited delivery services.

  • Hazardous or regulated items: Some prescription medications, including aerosol inhalers, cannot ship by air because they could interfere with flight safety. These orders must ship ground via Standard Shipping in the 48 contiguous states and cannot be shipped to Alaska, Hawaii, or destinations outside the U.S.

  • Special prescription deliveries: If your order contains refrigerated medications, our policy is to ship them via Express delivery, packaged with a cold gel pack, to all addresses except APO/FPOs, to assure that they ship at the proper temperature. There is no additional cost for expedited delivery services.

Q: How much does shipping cost?

Q: What should I do in an emergency situation and need my medication right away?
A:Should you need a prescription urgently, you should fill your prescription at your local Walmart pharmacy or another in-network local pharmacy to avoid delays.
